Q. What is the Decollette pad?

A. The Decollette pad is a re-usable medical grade silicone pad designed to prevent and repair the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the décolleté (chest) area between the breasts.

Q. How do we get lines and wrinkles on the décolleté area?

A. There are two main causative factors: sun damage and sleep lines

Sun damage—UV light destroys collagen and elastin fibres in the skin, which is the skins support network.

Sleep lines—these are the lines that form when we sleep. Very few women actually sleep on their backs, which is the perfect position to prevent sleep lines forming on the face and chest. Most people find sleeping on their side/front the most comfortable. Unfortunately in this position our skin creases. We average 7-8 hours every night of our life sleeping in the position which will crease our skin. Over time we have visible lines and wrinkles appearing in certain areas of our skin.

Q. What can we do to prevent lines and wrinkles forming in this area?

A. There are three main things you can do.

1. Use a good sunscreen daily, 365 days a year. 50%of the UVA rays ( the ageing rays) are able to penetrate through glass,clothing so it is important to protect the skin all year round.

2. Use a good cosmeceutical skin care treatment to treat and rejuvenate the skin.

3. Use the Décolleté pad while sleeping to keep the skin taught and prevent the skin from creasing.

Q. How long will the Decollette pad last?

A. This is dependent upon the frequency of use. The Décolleté Pad will last between 30-60 days. If worn every night for 7-8 hours it will last for 30 days before needing to be replaced.  If your normal sleep patterns are shorter or you spend more time sleeping on your back it will last longer.  The main reason for replacing the pad is the loss of its adhesive power over time though the pad retains its supportive properties.  Most women replace their moisturiser every 6-8 weeks.  The same broad time period applies with the Décolleté Pad.

Q. How do I clean the pad? 

A. Simply wash the pad with warm soapy water and leave it to dry naturally.

Q. How do I store the pad?

A. The pad may be kept in its original packaging.  It will not dry out or otherwise deteriorate, however, if left in the open air.

Q. How do I use the pad?

A. The pad must be applied to clean dry skin. No moisturisers or oils should be applied prior to using the pad.

Q. When do I use the pad?

A. The pad may be applied to the skin while sleeping. The pad is designed to be worn at bedtime, while you are sleeping.  However you can wear it at any time of the day.  Some of the best results, for example, come from wearing it in the early morning, upon rising, to smooth out any visible lines and wrinkles. 

Q. Am I likely to have a reaction to the pad?

A. A reaction is unlikely. The pad is made of medical-grade silicon which is a relatively inert element, especially when used externally (as opposed, for example, to silicon leaking from a faulty breast implant).  A rash or itching may occur if proper hygiene is neglected.  If this happens, wash the pad and the affected area well.  If the rash continues, discontinue use and seek medical advice.
